2003 ABODA CONDUCTING SUMMER SCHOOL

The Conducting Summer School is an intensive training course held in Melbourne over six days in January. The Melbourne Conducting School is Australia's longest running Conducting School. Apart from focussing on the art and mechanics of conducting, the course will cover aspects of musicianship and band repertoire. All music will be kindly provided by Billy Hydes Music and will be available for sale during the course.

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be presented with a certificate of successful participation.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The Conducting School caters for all standards from beginners to veterans. Participants have the opportunity to work in group and individual sessions with video analysis and with a "live" ensemble. All sessions are conducted in a friendly and supportive environment.

Conducting participants will also have the opportunity to conduct pianists in individual sessions with the clinicians in the early afternoon session on Days 2 through 5.

Student registrations are welcome and this course could prove ideal for prospective VCE students who wish to gain greater insights into performance techniques! Other students may wish to sharpen their playing skills over the holidays and teachers are encouraged to register suitable students in the band.

Observers can play in the band, attend all sessions, and receive course notes. Individual tuition and video analysis is available to conducting registrations only.

In 2003, the school will be run over six days from Sunday January 12th to Saturday January 18th. Wednesday January 15th will be a rest day.
