2004 ABODA Summer Conducting School

Catering for a wide range of abilities from beginners to veterans, the ABODA Summer Conducting School will feature a panel of Victoria's finest conductors and music educators. The course is proudly sponsored by Billy Hyde Music.

Key features of this intensive six-day course include:

  • Relevant and timely lectures on the role of the conductor, developing practical skills and rehearsal techniques, repertoire reading, score analysis and resources

  • Work with a live ensemble, plus conduct pianists in individual sessions with clinicians

The ABODA Summer Conducting School is Australia's longest running conducting school and is an intensive six-day training course. The unique course encourages participants to

  • develop a solid foundation in conducting essentials

  • explore the art and mechanics of conducting

  • achieve greater insight into performance techniques, aspects of musicianship and a range of band repertoire

Participants registered for the school will have the opportunity to work with a panel of Victoria's finest conductors and music educators in group and individual sessions, through video analysis and with a 'live' ensemble.

Observers can play in the band, attend all sessions and receive course notes.

The costs of the course vary from an observer rate of $310 to a full conducting registration of $580. Discounts are available for ABODA members and early-bird registrations.
